A lexical and syntactic study of research article titles in Library Science and Scientometrics

Title of a research article is an abstract the abstract. Titles play decisive role in convincing readers at first sight whether articles are worth reading or not. Not only do titles show how carefully words chosen by authors, but also reflect disciplinary differences terms title and structure between hard sciences soft sciences. This study examined lexical density syntactic 690 from five Library Science Scientometrics journals, aiming to reveal differences. The result suggested both have almost same length prevalent usage Nominal Phrase (NP) govern structure. stated some differences: demonstrates more punctuation complexity, particularly greater frequency using colons; shows involvement related methods, which indicator papers’ scientific value, declarative Full Sentence (FS) structure, were mostly discovered
